Scrummy Fruit Salad

As part of our Scrumdidlyumptious topic this Spring term in Year 3, we had the very enjoyable and hands on task of creating a delicious fruit salad. The children in Year 3 worked in small groups with the assistance of Mrs Bansil and Mrs Begum-Wills to prepare the fruit salad. They had to peel, core and chop various fruits to prepare the final ensemble which they then devoured! Children then had to recall the process of creating the fruit salad and sequence and write a set of instructions based on it.

The Attaction Of Magnets!

3D have been investigating the power of magnets. ' The bigger the magnet the stronger the force of attraction?' The children made predictions as to how many split pins, tags or drawing pins the magnets would attract  - based on the size. There were quite a few surprises during the investigation!

Friction

Year 3 have been building their own cars in D.T. Once built they were used to investigate the effects of friction. to do this the children rolled the cars down a series of different ramps which each had a different surface texture. Sponge, wood, sandpaper and carpet. Before beginning their investigation they made a series of predictions about which surfaces would create the most friction. Then the fun began ! Take a look at the pictures below:
